Stars Shine Brightly

Yes, I did start this project a few days into the new year, but I’m ending it today.

It’s been an incredible journey and I’ve been thrilled (and exhausted) to share new and old photos with all of you every day for all of 2014. It was certainly a challenge at times – and yes I did fail to update a few times this year, but all in all, I think it was a successful project that pushed me to really learn my camera and use it.

This blog will definitely not be done, however. Photography is one of my main pillars of artistic release, and I will definitely continue updating with more new content and new adventures, so stay tuned.

Thank you to everyone who has kept up with me along this project, to all of my new followers, and old – I am grateful for your audience and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Austrian Jam Cookies

Another one of my specialties, a cookie that my brother LOVES and won’t verbally admit to loving.

I usually make these in a big log form or as thumb sized minis, but this year I thought it would be cuter and more festive as Christmas shapes.

Chocolate Dipped Coconut Cakes

My favorite story about this particular recipe is that my mom and my dad’s mom slaved over making hundreds of these the night before my mom and dad got married.

Mini Kremschnit

This is one of my favorite Christmas desserts that I insist my mom make every year. This year she shopped too late for the filo dough, so she only found these mini cup things.

After about 24 hours, these 8 or so are all that’s left of this particular dessert. I’m pretty sure I ate like 12 when I got home from work yesterday. YOLO.

This is one of my specialties when it comes to making Christmas cookies. It’s super easy and super delicious.

– Animal crackers
– Sour cherry jam
– Finely chopped walnuts or almonds
– Pure almond extract
– Vanilla extract
– Coconut flakes

1. Grind the walnuts/almonds in a blender.
2. Pulverize the animal crackers with a rolling pin or in a blender.
3. Mix all ingredients (except the coconut flakes) together. Adjust ingredients for optimum stickiness. If too dry, add more jam. If too sticky, add more crackers/nuts.
4. Roll into 1 inch balls, dip into coconut flakes, stack. Refrigerate overnight (preferably) or you can serve them as is. (They taste better after ruminating for at least 24 hours).

Caramelized Walnut Cakes

It’s my favorite time for the year! Merry Christmas from Vivography and my family to yours!

Our house is filled to the brim with desserts and dishes and it makes for an amazing food porn opportunity, every year. First up on the wheel of desserts is something my mom hasn’t made before, but they turned out REALLY GOOD and also, I can feel myself gaining 5 pounds with each portion I eat.

Caramelized Walnut Cakes (with a ton of butter apparently). SO GOOD.
