Swoop

YOU GUYS. IT’S THE LAST DAY OF BLOGVEMBER!

I had so much trouble deciding on what color scheme to do today’s photo in – it ended up being a piece that looked good in basically every curve and action I applied, so instead of continuing on the sullen and dark scheme I’d had for the past couple fin photos, I decided to cheer myself up (lord knows I need it) and go for a blushy pink/lilac scheme.

Again, if I was a viewer of this without knowing what I’m looking at are fish fins, I don’t think I’d be able to guess. They kind of look like bird feathers, which reminds me of the theory of evolution and makes me feel wonder at the amazing world we live in.

Finny Waves

I’m not drunk anymore! Which is unfortunate, but also good for this blog because I gotta update this before I head out for work tonight.

Anyway, my dad went fishing a few days ago on Lake Michigan and caught a couple fish. I sat down and photographed their fins with my macro lens and I’m really satisfied with how they turned out. I feel like if I didn’t know they were fish fins, I wouldn’t know what they’d be, and I like that.

I’m Drunk but It’s Okay.

Listen guys, I don’t have anything for you tonight because

  1. I’m drunk.
  2. I’m not digging the rest of the Wild Lights photos I’ve got in my archives.
  3. I don’t feel like editing any of the other pictures I have right now because I’m drunk.

But it’s okay. Because tomorrow I will have a new photo.

In the meantime, I think I’ve come to the decision to purchase a basic studio setup for myself for Christmas this year. I think. It’s obviously for narcissistic selfie reasons, but since these reason bring me joy in a world that drives me to drink, I AIN’T EVEN MAD, ya feel?

First Snow

You know you’re in Michigan when one day you have sunny, relatively “warm” weather for late November (upper 50s!) and the next day THE WRATH OF THE SNOW GODS HAS FALLEN UPON YOU.

That’s what I woke up to this late morning, 15 minutes before I had to be at work (yay not setting alarms!) and left to in the late afternoon. I had a solid 3 inches of snow on my car and there’s a good 5 or 6 inches outside from the snow we got all day.

After putting up our Christmas tree, because this weather is clearly appropriate for it, I threw on my coat, boots, and earmuffs, and ran around outside trying to take pictures of the snow. A little difficult with not a lot of light to work with.

But I got a couple shots I liked. Here’s one of them!

Hoping to take some nice pics tomorrow during the day. I’ll also be at the Detroit Zoo for their first weekend of Wild Lights light exhibit, so I’m planning on working my magic there as well. Anyone else going?

Split Ends

I searched my archives tonight looking for something good to post because I felt photographically frustrated today while trying to make some new content.

I ran across an old selfie photoshoot I did last year around February and decided I’d utilize my new Wacom tablet and re-edit one of the pictures. I just tweaked some minor stuff, fixed some blemishes, used a different Photoshop action. I like the final product.

I’m weeping inside at the split ends you can see in this picture though. My hair has really come a long way in almost 2 years – THANK GOD. Also, I feel like I may have shared this photo previously. In a set. Because it’s saved as a set as well. Oh well. Double dose it is.
