A Taste of Spring

I should have posted these about a couple months ago but instead of complaining about that, I’m just going to casually drop the goods for y’all.

Here’s some more flowers from late spring this year.

Chrysanthemums ’17

It’s officially a month since my last update and shamefully, I did not deliver on my promises of having queued up posts. Truthfully, I was so busy and mentally occupied in the time leading up to the cruise, I just didn’t get around to it. But excuses, excuses, we’re not here to talk about that, so let’s cut to it.

I have a few chrysanthemum photos I want to share from late spring this year.

I tried some different editing styles in Photoshop with these to bring out a more vintage, cooler toned look. I need to mess around with this style, cause I definitely feel like I can enhance them even more, it’s just about finding that balance.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Side Step

Good morning from Minneapolis! I have one last floral photo to share with you all from this set. There’s more in the archive, from a different day, but I haven’t gotten around to editing any of those yet.

I’ve found these large colorful daisy looking flowers really fun to shoot in recent years. I have no idea what they’re called though.

The Great Grass Sea

I was browsing the Game of Thrones subreddit when I came across a DIY double terrarium someone had done, one with Jon Snow, the other with Dany. The Dany terrarium was filled with succulents – ‘The Great Grass Sea’. Anyway, this reminded me that I need to update here! With pictures of succulents. :)

Today I’ve got two pieces to share. They’re so similar, I figured they should be shared as a sister set.

I don’t have much to say about these other than I really enjoy photographing ferns and fern-like plants and leaves. They’re always something interesting about them.

Remember that little snippet a few days ago when I said I started to intentionally photograph flowers with contrasting backgrounds? This is one of those examples.

I have another one, in the same thread (poppies) coming up later that I like even more, but I enjoyed the gentle way of life this one conveys.

Thanks to our hair stylist, my mom and I have garnered an affection for pansies this year, and I took to photographing some during my outing.

What I like about them is their vast spectrum of colors and that they remind me of Alice in Wonderland.
