There was a point in our time at the Dallas Museum of Art where I wandered off by myself for a bit. This was the last thing I photographed on that little adventure and there was a volunteer there that told me to read about what I was photographing. All I remember is that the blue stones are blue spinel sapphires (???). Maybe just blue spinel.
Either way, it was a really cool looking piece.
